Our Sharp Shorts scheme funds up-and-coming writers, directors and producers to create inspiring, engaging and boundary-pushing short films (live action and animation) that resonate with audiences at home and on the international stage.

This year, Short Circuit will select up to 12 projects to take part in a 3-month development phase. After pitching for a production award in September 2023, up to six projects will be selected to receive up to £25,000 of funding.

Please note: This funding opportunity is for Scottish or Scotland-based filmmakers only. If you are based elsewhere in the UK, click here to find which of the 8 regional BFI NETWORK film hubs is closest to you.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm on Monday 29th May 2023. Please familiarise yourself with the Application Guidelines before applying and attending this session.

Date/Time: Tuesday 2nd May 2023, 4.00pm-5.30pm

Location: Online (Zoom)

During this Q+A session, those interested in applying for Sharp Shorts will have the chance to hear directly from the Short Circuit Talent Executives – Iria Pizania and Miriam Newman.

This is an opportunity to have your questions answered by the Talent Executives and find out everything you need to know about the scheme.

To help us manage the amount of questions we receive (and to avoid repetition), you will be asked to submit your questions upon registering for this event. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions directly once the pre-submitted questions have been answered.

This event will be recorded and live captioned.

If you have any questions about the Q+A session, please email hello@shortcircuit.scot.

Sharp Shorts is a short film fund administered by Short Circuit, a talent development initiative delivered by Film City Futures in partnership with Glasgow Film Fest, and funded by Screen Scotland and BFI NETWORK (awarding funds from The National Lottery).
