Do you have a script but have no director attached? Are you a director looking for a producer to work with? Come along to our in-person networking session to meet other filmmakers looking to submit to Sharp Shorts, and find that team member you’ve been looking for.
Please note: this event is for writers, directors or producers only. We will be hosting more mixers in future to help both above and below-the-line talent connect with others working in the screen sector.

We will have structured speed-networking for producers, writers and directors, along with a talent mixer towards the end of the session. Writers and directors will be placed in breakout rooms, with those looking to connect with them rotating around the room. Each writer/director will have five minutes to discuss their ideas, before moving onto the next person. Please ensure you arrive at the session promptly by the start time to be allocated a place.
If you wish to take part in the speed-networking, you must include an outline of your project (if you are a writer or director), and who it is you’re looking to connect with upon registration.
We ask that you complete an equality monitoring form after registering for this event. The information you provide will be kept anonymous and the data is managed confidentially.

This year, Short Circuit will select up to 12 projects to take part in a 3-month development phase.
Over the 3 months, writers or writer/directors will develop their short film proposals into a draft script. Teams will be supported by Short Circuit’s Talent Executives and will have access to masterclasses, editorial feedback, peer-to-peer workshops and additional bespoke training and access support as required. This will also include training to help you prepare to pitch in front of the funding panel.
After pitching for a production award in September 2023, up to six projects will be selected to receive up to £25,000 of funding.
Since the launch of Sharp Shorts in May 2020 the Short Circuit team and pool of readers have assessed over 800 submissions for the scheme. 44 short film projects have received development support and 25 projects have been awarded funding.
