Next up in the @glasgowshort 2023 programme from our slate of funded projects is @candycomedy2022! 🥳

CANDY - written/directed by @sarahgrantcreative and produced by @mishamccullagh - follows plus size burlesque enthusiast Mandy, who is practising for her first public performance. But only when her best friend needs her help does she find the confidence to perform in her full power.

From Sarah:
"I wanted to make a film that unapologetically placed a comedic plus size character front and centre and have her own her sexiness. Women who look like me don’t get many opportunities to feel good about ourselves and the film industry has been historically unkind to us. CANDY is a message that everyone who doesn’t fit the societal norm of sexy should still get to have a dance-topless-on-top-off-a-car moment."

CANDY will be screening tomorrow, Saturday 25th March, at 15:15 as part of the Young Scottish Filmmaker Prize and on Sunday 26th March at 12:45 as part of 'GSFF23 faves: Bots Bods Bodies'.

The above video is a celebration on wrap on the set of CANDY, February 2022. The same night that @katrinaallen_ and @sarahgrantcreative found out they had won an @rts.scotland award! 🏆

Tomorrow we're partnering with @glasgowshort and @britishcouncil to run a FREE masterclass with multi-award-winning Lebanese-Canadian filmmaker @daniabdeir. 🎬

Join us on Friday 24th March, 16.00 at @civichouse_, Glasgow as part of #GSFF23's Lebanese Focus.

Dania's most recent film #Warsha was one of the most successful shorts on the global festival circuit of the last year. #Warsha premiered at @sundanceorg 2022, where it won the Jury Prize for International Short Fiction. It followed this with a run of 260+ festival selections, including @SXSW, Palm Springs ShortFest and Rotterdam, 90+ awards (& counting!), and it was shortlisted for the Academy Awards.

Before this, Dania's NYU graduation film #InWhite received the Spike Lee Production Fund and premiered at Clermont-Ferrand. She is now working on her feature debut, #PigeonWars, which was selected for the 2023 Sundance Screenwriters Lab. ✍

You can watch #Warsha in the programme 'Trapped' on Friday 24th March at 20.15 in @cca_glasgow Cinema, and the programme 'Find Your Way' on Thursday 23rd March at 19.00 in CCA Theatre.

Scotland’s leading short film event - Glasgow Short Film Festival - kicks off today! 💥

We’re delighted to share that three of our #SharpShorts funded films will be screening as part of this year’s programme.

First up is THE MöBIUS TRIP, which will have its official world premiere at @glasgowshort 2023 as part of the ‘Scottish Competition 4: Navigations' strand. The film will screen on Sunday 26th March, 15:15 at @glasgowfilmtheatre.
